The Community Shares Unit is undertaking a full review of the design of good practice standards as it moves towards establishing a Community Shares Standard Board.
As part of this, we are considering reconfiguring the Community Shares Standard Mark so that it is characterised by the following:
- Awarded to share offers conforming with Community Shares Standards Board (CSSB) principles
- Seven principles underpinning community shares
- Evidence checklists used by licensed practitioners to check conformity with these principles
- Society directors sign CSSB Code of Practice, including a commitment to honour the terms of the share offer
As a result of these changes, the business plan would no longer be actively inspected as part of a Standard Mark assessment - encouraging us to design a seperate sector-specific business appraisal service that would be used undertaken by licensed practitioners, as an additional activity.
We are inviting practitioners and others with an interest in community shares advice to help feed into these designs by attending one of three consultation events we're hosting across England.
Attendees are welcome to arrive at 10am when we'll be hosting our monthly online practitioner meet-up to go through our regular community shares updates with practitioners.
The consultation event will be followed by a buffet lunch.
