Community shares well represented in the UK's £1.5bn social investment market
The social investment market is steadily growing, as deal-flow has more than doubled in value since 2011, representing roughly a 20% annual growth rate.
Some social investment products that barely existed five years ago now represent significant proportions of overall social investment, with higher-risk products now a significant part of overall social investment.
This study suggests that social investment is already a relevant tool for a thousands of charities and social enterprises, and that social investment products are becoming more diverse and more able to bear risk.
Community share offers and Social Investment Tax Relief products are giving opportunities for mass participation. This means that citizens can contribute to social change through their own personal finance choices and grassroots organisations can access the finance they need for community benefit.
