CSU and Money Advice Service update public info on community shares

14th Jul 2015

Potential community shares investors are now be able to access impartial advice from the Money Advice Service (MAS) on community shares. The Community Shares Unit (CSU) worked with the organisation to update its guidance to help raise awareness and improve the availability of public-facing information.

Having previously referred to the legal mechanism of withdrawable share capital, the dedicated page now uses the more popular term of ‘community shares’, providing useful and easy-to-digest information on how community shares work, the benefits of investing, alongside information on the new Standard Mark.

The updates to the MAS website arrive ahead of an update to the Investors Guide – the key document to help inform supporters’ decision on whether they should invest in a community share offer. The updated guide will be released in September 2015.
