CSU joins forces with Nesta and Cambridge University on crowdfunding study

20th Aug 2014

The Community Shares Unit has teamed up with NESTA and Cambridge University on the largest  ever study of crowdfunding and other forms of alternative finance in the UK.

The researchers are surveying crowdfunding users, alongside gathering data on the  size of the crowdfunding market in the UK, as well as launching a national poll to understand public perception of crowdfunding. Their hope is that through this research, a richer understanding of crowdfunding as a model for alternative finance can be developed, gathering insights from entrepreneurs, policy makers and politicians on how to make to the most of crowdfunding potential.

NESTA and Cambridge have rightly recognised community shares as an important area of the wider crowdfunding market and the study's findings will help even more community share offers suceed. They are really interested in learning about the experience of both supporters and enterprises who have experienced community shares and have designed a short survey (it only takes 5 minutes and you stand a chance of winning an Ipad!).

Your input is incredibly valuable to the growing use of community shares and we will be sharing the exciting results in the coming months.
